The Covid-19 pandemic raised the need for comfort at home and practicality in life. The ‘comfy’ aesthetic was boosted in the industry as a whole, also reaching the architecture, decoration and interior design segment. Thus, well-being, naturalness and coziness are the keywords that mark the main trends for this segment throughout 2022. With this in mind, we selected some elements or aesthetics that will be on the rise in the coming months. If you’re building or renovating a property, see which ones match your lifestyle:

Interior Design Trends for 2022

1. Integrated Environments

They are capable of generating breadth and reusing less used areas. An example that has been gaining space is the apartment balcony integrated with the rest of the property, making the room more spacious and cozy at the same time. We’ve even talked about this specific topic here

2. Practicality in Furniture

Furniture that is easy to use and combine, which can be used in various situations, will be a milestone for 2022. Furniture that allows realignment to meet the needs of each moment will be the best choice for the routine. A good example: set up an office according to the furniture you already have at home, as the home office came on a strong wave.

3. Presence of Nature

Nature brings color and life to a home and, in 2022, this will be no different. The use of plants in the decoration, terracotta colors applied to the walls and panels with plants make the space cozy and provide well-being. Another great idea is to connect the external area with the internal one, transforming the two spaces into an extension. The use of wooden materials and natural lighting will also be a must.

4. Boho-Style Decor

Decor style where natural pieces and fabrics stand out. Carpets, bright colors and specific textures are part of this set, capable of transforming rooms into fun and comfortable places in the right measure.

5. Connected Home

Technology evolves more and more. Therefore, it became common to find connected homes. In addition to virtual assistants, it is possible to automate homes with instructions to turn on the lights, close the blinds and prepare coffee. This will be huge in the future, but some facilities are already available today, providing ease, practicality and comfort in people’s daily lives.

6. Warm Palette/Basic Colors

The basics never left the scene. Palettes in light and soft tones, such as beige, gray and white, have become part of the routine and will continue to be popular in 2022. They are tones that bring comfort, warmth, tranquility, simplicity and, at the same time, are modern and elegant.

7. Retro

Covid-19 has led people to rediscover the past and seek only the essentials. Therefore, heart and design that refer to memories and affective stories come back with everything to 2022. Retro can be seen in furniture, objects and paintings. Wood is a great example of a retro application, but it always remains timeless.

8. Home Office

Turning a space into an office at home is a must. This is a fact. But working at a kitchen table or on the sofa can be unhealthy. Hence, the need for a home office space has gained in importance. If it is not the case to carry out a renovation to obtain this space, the furniture can be adapted and the empty space reorganized with a comfortable table and chair, as well as good lighting (either by lamp or natural light).

9. Very Peri Blue

Anyone who follows market trends is well aware that every year Pantone chooses a color of the year. And the one from 2022 is a blue with a touch of lilac dubbed Very Peri (Pantone reference 17-3938). According to the company, this tone “animates our creative, curious and intriguing spirit” and, in this way, “helps us to embrace an altered landscape of possibilities, opening us to a new vision as we rewrite our lives”. Well, and practically, what does this mean? That we will likely see many design objects in this shade in stores over the next few months – if you identify yourself, you can easily include one (or more) in your home.
