In this high-tech era of artificial intelligence and fast-paced data transfer, we have been hit by an invisible virus spreading throughout every corner of the world with inconceivable speed. Belatedly, we’ve realized how unprepared we are for a 21st Century pandemic.

It breaks our hearts when we witness the death toll and how many families are suffering right now. We offer our deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones and thank the millions of people who are making untold sacrifices to do their part to keep the virus from devastating even more lives.

Covid-19 has parted families and friends and yet we take hope from witnessing people — many of them strangers — become so close and connected to each other in ways we have never before experienced. Our hearts beat as one.

Despite all the tragic stories we are hearing about, as we write this article in early April 2020, everyone is trying to find a new life/work routine while following measures of social distancing.Everyone is working hard to stay healthy, safe and find new ways to overcome all the unexpected changes! As our favourite author, Yuval Noah Harari, said, “Change is the only constant.”

We have to come to realize that we also have no choice but to adapt to the new challenges and opportunities.

Covid-19 – We Are Open For Business And Are Taking Calls And Emails

We, at m+ Architecture l Interior Design, have used this time to look into the core values of our practice. The Government of BC has announced that construction, engineering and architectural firms are considered non-health essential service providers so our practice remains open. We are working hard to assist our clients to get through these tough times. We are also grateful that most of municipalities are up and running, accepting new applications, conducting inspections and are responsive to emails and phone calls. It is becoming the norm to work from home and run meetings on applications such as Zoom, GoTo and Google hangout, as well as getting connected to the office server by LogMeIn and Remote PC.

Virtual Meetings And Conference Calls During Covid-19

Virtual meetings are becoming more productive and time efficient. In fact, to our surprise we have come to realize that virtual meetings work can work as well as face-to-face meetings with the whole team participating effectively, sharing documents, thoughts and ideas. We are taking advantage of all the positive aspects of technology to continue our work remotely and now have more time to focus on projects while assisting clients to find better solutions for their needs.

Residental Project Ideas

We are working on ideas to make residential projects to be more affordable and adaptable to future needs, such as creating nooks in each home for working parents and learn-from-home students. We are modifying commercial projects, such as business centres, restaurants and medical and healthcare offices to meet the criteria of new business models to be more responsive and adaptable with the upcoming smart cities.

We Are In This Together. Stay Healthy And Strong!

The major changes we are taking at at m+ Architecture l Interior Design in light of the coronavirus will improve our design vision to create healthy changes in our lifestyle and business models for a brighter future and to better serve our clients and our community.
