Vancouver Interior Designers

One of the oldest traditions shared by all humans, dining out has evolved over the centuries. But be you drinking wine at a small cafe in Paris, or eating sushi at a Vancouver hotspot, dining out is never just about the food and drink — it’s also very much about the ambience and design of the space hosting your dining party. The meal may be professionally prepared, but if the restaurant hasn’t been designed to comfortably and attractively accommodate its guests, then it is unlikely that people will even walk through the doors of the eatery in the first place.

Vancouver Interior Design Firm

As a firm that focuses on all aspects of design and functionality of our clients’ spaces, m+ Architecture | Interior Design is often commissioned to work our magic on eateries in the Vancouver area. Our clients know that we will create the perfect backdrop to accentuate the flavours and feelings created by their food.

Recently, we were approached by a ‘Salad Box’ franchise in North Vancouver, BC. Located in the food court of the Capilano Mall, it aims to provide consumers with a timely option for healthy food in a location that is otherwise full of deep-fried fast food and saturated fats. One of the most recent work in progress by m+ is the “Salad Box” located in North Vancouver, BC. While the community members of North Vancouver are increasingly choosing healthy and active lifestyles, m+ had to brainstorm how to differentiate the Salad Box location and from the many other food providers in the vast array of options at the Capilano Mall.

Successful Interior Design For Food Court Space at Capilano Mall

Designing a successful dining space depends on the thoughtful construction of several key locations in the eatery. The kitchen, also known as the back of the house, and the retail space and dining area, also known as the front of the house, work both together and separately, and should be designed in a way that facilitates this cooperation successfully. The flow between both spaces was a key design feature pinpointed by our design team, which enables a comfortable working flow for staff. The next step was to incorporate all of the necessary equipment the staff will be using into the floorplan of the design. Something equally important for the success of an eatery is the correct implementation of ventilation.. Not only does this restrict odors from the kitchen from leaking inappropriately to the eating area, it also keeps mold and other health hazards from developing. This, in turn, keeps the restaurant in compliance with its health codes.

After all of the technical requirements are put into place, finishes and fixtures are chosen with a keen eye for touches that make the space look and feel entertaining and memorable. We chose to use design features that would directly reflect the essence of the healthy and exceptional food at Salad Box. Warm materials and unique textures (like wooden and brass accents, marble counters and backsplashes, as well as careful use of lighting) were utilized carefully to demonstrate uniqueness, fine quality, and a natural inclination, and in doing so, set the whole space apart from the rest of the eateries in the food court at the Capilano Mall.
